Many people around us uses YouTube, a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim in February 2005, on which users can upload, view and share videos. YouTube has developed from an ordinary video-sharing website to a website that connects with the people of the world.
The company uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as unprofessional content such as video blogging and short original videos. Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, even though media corporations including CBS, the BBC, VEVO, Hulu, and other organizations offer some of their material via the site as part of the YouTube partnership program.
During my free time I will go on the site YouTube to find my favorite music, artists, covers, lyrics, and music videos to watch and share through Facebook with my friends.
Honestly, I think YouTube has a lot of talented singers out there; however, I will choose my most favorite YouTube artist. My favorite YouTube artist is Jason Chen, a Taiwanese-American rising R&B music sensation, who brings a more western touch for showcasing his talented vocals to the crowds by converting viewers into fans through the power of social media such as YouTube.
This Taiwanese-American grew from producing ear-pleasing acoustic creations into creating incredible re-visualizing of up-to-date hits. From his soulful mash-up interpretation of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie/Not Afraid,” his most excellent pure English cover of Taeyang’s “Wedding Dress,” and his addictively relaxing remix of Nelly’s “Just a Dream” with fellow YouTube artist Joseph Vincent, it is not surprising that he has numerous followers on various social network sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
Furthermore to the teamwork release of his Just a Dream cover, the desiring R&B musician is no stranger to producing teamwork musical masterpieces.
Moreover, with his Taiwanese background, this rising R&B singer advances his singing talent in Chinese Mandarin with inspirational takes of Wang Leehom’s “The One and Only” as well as Gary Cao and Genie Zhou’s “Romeo and Juliet” with Wendi Lee, who competed in the Taiwan’s singing talent show Superstar Avenue Season 3.
Jason Chen is gaining more and more fans on a daily basis through the power of network interests from online video streaming sites. Having talent, but not marketing is the force behind Jason’s rising popularity. The image that rules in the music arena is a nice sound for sore ears.
This brings me to the very first time I started listening to his music, then I said to myself, “Wow, this guy has a lot of talent and an amazing voice. His covers sound better than the original singers, who sing those songs!” I have been listening to this one song from him and I think it has a lot of meaning to it. He wrote this song in both the English and Chinese version and it’s called “Best Friend.”
